With the Sierra Nevada range blanketed in deep snow, I went to where travelers go during the winter months: the desert.

Even if it’s only for a day, time in the desert is never wasted.

One night trips are just as good as a 5 day adventure when you need to get away. My wife, dog and I took to the mountains for some fall hiking and color hunting.

With rain in the forecast, we went to the Sierras for some hero dirt mountain biking in Downieville along with some 4x4 camping.

Getting back into the groove can be hard. But with good people, good beers and some good adventure, it gets easy to fall right back into it.

It had been a while since I spent a weekend exploring in the Sierras. I made a route and asked some friends along for a weekend or checking out new places in the mountains.

We set off to find new campsites that were freshly opened for the year. Stuck cars and snow drifts made the day interesting, but it was the lakeside campsite that made the trip worthwhile.

A group of adventurers led by RobRed set off on an adventure through the desolate Coso Wilderness and Death Valley ranges looking for downed jets, a super bloom, and an escape from the norm...

Reed and I set off to Big Sur to enjoy a night on the coast after a few big storms blew through. We had some new gear to shake down, and ended up meeting with an Overland Bound group. Now, if only I could find my knife... 

The Girl, the Dog, and I went to the mountains to celebrate the New Year. There was snow, a frisbee and a REALLY long drive home. But it was well worth it, as it always is. 

Andy and I ventured into Plumas National Forest over the summer and found a grove of Spruce trees at the base of Duck Soup Pond. Naturally, come December, we decided it would be a good adventure to head back, brave the cold, and hunt down our own Christmas Trees.
